Kumaran Sourcing is committed to the ethical sourcing of products from India
Ethical Sourcing
If recent times and world-wide challenges have taught us anything it is that we are a global family and that each and every one of us has a duty to look after the resources we use. At Swades we are committed to working with vendors who have the same passion and vision on sustainability initiatives as we do. We particularly support the textile and garment industry to develop in a sustainable way by looking at new techniques and working with ethical companies to learn more about how we can all improve and help the environment.
With non-renewable resources declining, we know we must move towards renewable sources of energy. With this in mind we are working with our vendors to build awareness among factories to increase the use of solar, wind, biomass, waste, and hydropower energies to generate electricity – a basic necessity of course, for all production houses. We are also working on water saving techniques with our factories that cover a wide spectrum such as using less water during the manufacturing process of a product, installing effluent treatment plants and reducing water consumption, harvesting rainwater and recharging groundwater by building aquifers.
Giving Back
We give back privately and as a business. We really care about giving back to the community and have been committed to working with the Cheshire Home Society India which was created in 1967 with a leadership collaboration in the UK, to help the disabled in India. Today they house many men, women and children and cater to the livelihood of each. We help with regular donations and bring regular drop offs of clothes to help bring some cheer and practical support.
We are also actively involved in contributing to GOONJ, a non-profit organization that helps the poor by way of giving them the tools to create beautiful products out of waste materials. The objective is to make everyone empowered to look after their own basic needs. We do not believe at Swades that India should be perceived as poor and backward and in need of endless international aid. We encourage the enthusiasm amongst our team to contribute to the cause and being a responsible India.
